SCENE 6 - Later that night in Ned's Office - "Molly & Ned" and "Ned's Soliloquy"

Later that night, at Ned's office, Molly admits that she's a terrible spy, but Ned is thrilled that Octavia invited Molly to visit and insists that Molly agree to do it the very next day. Molly has been deeply disturbed by her visit to the Zero Club and by meeting Octavia face-to-face. For the first time ever, she questions ned about his work.

"The bomb, Ned, what does it mean?" she asks him.

"Mean? Why the bomb means peace, Molly." He sees that she's disturbed. "Oh, honey, it's not so bad! It's like anything else: If you're prepared and you play our cards right, why the worst catastrophe can actually be the greatest thing that ever happened."

"Are we prepared?" Molly asks.

"Prepared? What do you think I've been working towards for the past 15 years? Molly, dear, if the unthinkable happens, it won't happen to us. I've thought of everything."

Studio version (composer singing with Janet Greeley)

"And that's a worst-case scenario," Ned adds, "So there's nothing to worry about. Listen honey, you just think about wonderful things. And don't forget to drop in on Octavia tomorrow." (Continued below)

Molly leaves, and Ned believes he's convinced her. But now, for the first time, he begins to doubt himself. Alone with his work he asks himself: Does she believe me? Do I believe myself
