Zoe Wong

Zoe Wong is a harpist and is passionate about playing folk songs and pop music. She also teaches a harp interest class. Zoe has begun with popular music pieces because by selecting pop songs, she aims to increase audience interest and engagement. For her, playing harp music is the medication. She fully immerses herself in the world of music. She firmly believes that music exists between the notes.

A Mini-Interview with Zoe

How would you describe your experience of playing the piece?

Hyper, energetic, happy, confident, and emotional (in the middle transition part).

What do people say when you play this piece? Do you have favorite memories of people’s reactions to it?

“Bravo!” and “Amazing!”

What drew you to this piece – why did you choose to learn it?

I like its rhythm and special harp techniques.

What does this piece add to your repertoire (and/or your life) that you didn’t have before?

This is a great piece to performance. It has a strong sense of rhythm, and unique harp techniques, very dazzling, and the atmosphere is also very hot.

What would you tell someone else who’s thinking of learning this piece that you wish you’d known before you learned it?

It is amazing! Try it.

What do you think you can get from working directly with the composer of the piece that you can’t get from the sheet music?

When the composer played it, he had the same emotions he felt when he felt the music on that day. This is impromptu. If you play it with a performer, you will feel the power of her improvisation.
