Sometimes a gift is about sharing what you think of as your ‘true self’. Sometimes a gift is about sharing a part of yourself that may feel awkward, or different than you think you are – and yet it speaks to the heart of someone you love in a way that they can hear it.
My Dad – who I never lived with, never had a Thanksgiving or Christmas or Birthday with – still always let me know we belonged together, however distant, in all the ways distance can be.
He never questioned that creating music was my life. He just wished I would tone things down a bit. So this is a project I created for him, and I think it actually gave him solace. He certainly never complained that it was too over the top.
“Just what I needed at the end of a long day…beauty and simplicity, with creativity and passion.” (Donna)
It’s a project of improvisations on classical and traditional tunes that have such beautiful melodies they just begged to be improvised on.

Thanks so much Deborah for your generosity, thoughtfulness and kindness. I am thoroughly enjoying listening to this music (and thinking about the healing it brought in your relationship with your dad) as I go about doing everyday stuff. It is soothing. Thank you for sharing.
We enjoyed every cut. Thank you so much for this wonderful gift.
My favorite was Cielito Lindo. I could listen to you play all day. Your music is mesmerizing.
I’m so thankful to know you. The wonders of this age are profound in that we can get to know people in different ways. Connecting with you and other harpists online has been so energizing. I’m thankful for Zoom too! This little playlist is just another example of how much you contribute to the world. You are awesome. Love this!
Has anyone told you lately how amazing and talented and generous you are? Consider yourself told. Thanks so much for being you DHC!
So wonderful, warm and intimate. I missed your birthday concert because our internet went down for four days (!) just when you were about to have your concert, but listening to this felt like you were playing a private performance just for me in my living room. Blessings for all that are and all that you give.
Dear Deborah: I’ll never acquire everything you make available to us, your students, but the takeaway of personal enjoyment of the harp is
unmeasurable as your way teaches us to own and be on our own, and I like that you are always there, our incomparable shining star.
My Thanks today is for you. Ruth
This is so beautiful Deborah. I always feel your generosity, and kindness in all you do and especially in your beautiful playing. I just love this. Thank you.
Thanks for the out-pouring of creativity and generosity in all that you do….your latest album, your performances, your classes & your chats are all so refreshingly full of your musical richness and life discoveries. We all stand in awe of your ability to make a harp become your best friend as you express yourself and encourage all of us to as well! We all appreciate your enthusiasm for life, Deborah!
