I’ve wanted a grand piano for over 40 years.
So last August I created one for myself out of an old table, two scarves, a couple music stands and an electronic keyboard.
This week it turned into a real grand piano.
More on how that happened in a later post, but for the moment … now I know much better how Gepetto felt when Pinnochio turned into a real boy.
And you know what’s wonderful about a real grand piano?
There’s no on and off switch. There’s no software to upgrade. There’s no incompatibility with other systems in the house.
It’s always on. It always responds to my touch.
It’s a real piano.
Where Does it Get Real for YOU?
I’m a composer, performer and creative mentor. I’m always working to be more real, more responsive, more alive and more connected to my work, my play, my audiences, my students, my colleagues.
Are YOU passionate about becoming a deeper, more real musician? Do you long to be more more connected, more responsive? Do it. Make it real.
If you play the harp, join my next class at “Hip Harp Academy.” If you want to up the ante, apply for my yearlong “Harness Your Muse” mentorship program.
Is sitting in the audience where it gets real for you? Come to my next performance and let’s connect there – because on stage is where I feel like I really come alive.
And whatever you do, however you do it … make it real for YOU.
I started playing my baby grand piano again because of you. It sat in my living room for years unplayed, even though I had fallen in love with it for its tone and touch. Then I started your Harness Your Muse Mentorship, for a year of composing for the harp. I bought an electronic Midi for note entry on the computer, and I placed it on top to the real piano. And then I started playing on the real piano to hear my ideas, as it was closer than the harp, and sometimes easier for me to play than the harp. And I found myself remembering the feel and the sound. So, I credit you, Deborah, with getting me to remember the piano (started to type Paino; freudian). And it satisfies something I didn’t know I was missing.
Yes – so well put – it satisfies something missing.
You GO, girl! I love hearing from you, about all your adventures. Lisa Lynn is wonderful, too – so good to connect with someone who understands where you are in life!
