Chamber Ensemble
I basically create two different kinds of chamber music: pieces that feature harp (usually electric harp – and sometimes with voice) – and dramatic works: song cycles, micro-operas.
A lot of the chamber music I write is also work I perform with symphony – so it often exists in both forms: Chamber Ensemble & full orchestra.
One of my early goals was to create a catalog of pieces for harp that could be programmed alongside the Ravel “Introduction & Allegro” and/or Debussy Dances – so the ensemble I generally use is the same as the Ravel – with added percussion: Flute, Clarinet, String Quartet, Bass and percussion – with harp soloist. These are videos of some of the pieces.
I usually premiere the pieces myself, and then publish them and often coach or conduct other harp soloists in playing them – so you’ll see both me and other soloists performing in these videos.

Belinda
For voice, lever harp, flute, clarinet, string quartet, bass & percussion
Belinda was a willow tree in the heart of an urban neighborhood called Somerville, mA. For years this tree stood and inspired people. I fell in love with it one day riding my bike. This song is the story of that love affair.
“Belinda” is part of my show with symphony orchestra. People often describe it as a mini-musical with an audience chorus.
