PURPOSE OF OUR FISHMAN KIT:
This kit makes your harp amplifiable. Your instrument won't actually sound louder until you plug it into an amp or PA system (in the latter case, you may need a direct box, which we do not sell). What it does do is create the effect of having a built-in pickup (as opposed to using an external mic).
WHAT'S THE ADVANTAGE OF BUYING THIS KIT?
The point of this kit is to put the "little stuff" together with the "big stuff" so that when you buy the transducer and the preamp, you'll be able to put them to use immediately. If you already know what quarter-inch cables are (and maybe even have some lying around), have access to gaffer tape and know the rudiments ofputting your sound system together, then youl'l be just as happy buying the Fishman Transducer (aka Pickup) and Pre-Amp from your local music store (and they'll be happy too!). BUT, if you don't know bupkiss about amps or amplification, or you don't have any desire to become an audio tech expert, and you just want to get the dang harp to sound louder, then this kit will help you do just that. |
|
WHY IS THERE ALL THIS NON-AUDIO STUFF IN THE KIT?
Well, we used to just sell Fishman Transducers and Pre-amps. But then we realized there were a lot of other things you need to have in order to make use of those two components (like cables and gaffer tape) and also, a lot of harp players don't spend hours and hours each week in their local guitar or music shop buying supplies like these. So we wanted to make this whole thing easier for anyone who wanted to turn their harp into an amplifiable instrument.
WILL THE FISHMAN SYSTEM WORK WITH MY HARP?
The fishman system can be used with any harp (or any instrument with a sound board or flat vibrating surface).
I'D LIKE TO MOUNT THE TRANSDUCER ON MY HARP - BUT I DON'T WANT IT TO BE A PERMANENT PART OF MY SOUNDBOARD. |
|
No problem. Follow the directions for permanent mounting except use as little pressure as you can when mounting the transducer to the back of the soundboard - just enough to keep it from falling off. When you are ready for permanent mounting, you'll want to press pretty hard to make sure the double-sticky foam adheres permanently to both the transducer and the soundboard. The wire: The transducer
"out end" or "female end" or the hollow metal
tube-like thing: |

CAN THE FISHMAN SYSTEM INTERFACE WITH MY COMPUTER FOR CD RECORDING?
It's impossible for us to say, without knowing what computer you have and what software you use, whether a Fishman system can interface with your computer (and even if you told us, we still probably wouldn't know). What we can tell you is that the signal coming out of the Fishman system is still an audio (or analog) signal, not a digital signal. The signal comes out of the Fishman unit via a "quarter inch" guitar cable, so you would have to talk to your local computer guru to discuss how to get the Fishman to interact with your computer. |
