Enjoy this special holiday gift from my students and me.  This is Meredith’s “Final-Beginning” project from Fall 2016 Hip Harp Toolkit course at http://www.HipHarpAcademy.com. The project was to create a Holiday Greeting with Harp – and the goal was “Connection – not Perfection.” These projects are called “Final-Beginning” projects to help us remember that each thing we complete is really the first step in the next phase of our relationship with it.

Meredith did something a little different and here’s what she said about it:

I fell behind in the course while preparing for a holiday concert with my little band, Harp & Soul.

About the same that I was worrying about everything, our local e-newspaper, The Chestertown Spy, asked if they could post a poem of mine as a holiday message on the site.

[Here’s where you can see that article along with her poem]

I decided to use what I had learned from this and other DHC courses to make an expression of peace (the ultimate worry cure!) with my voice (reading my poem), my harp, playing my own arrangement of Peace Like A River, and photos taken of the river outside my window.

Originally, I used a longer vamp (thank you DHC!) and read the poem over that first but the publisher decided to shorten it up when he put the video together.

In a perfect world…no, I won’t finish that sentence!

Thank you DHC, for the courage and inspiration at the core of every module and course. Hugely grateful to be in the HHA. Here’s to the coming year — may it bring us together in peace.
