Hip Harp Academy Open House Orientation: Mon. Oct. 14, 11:00 am EST
The perfect way to start the Kickstart week is with an Open House: Hip Harp Academy Tour! Hip Harp Academy offers a FULL-Level year-long program to develop your repertoire and improvisation skills. It teaches you how to improvise on the fly, how to take any simple melody and create a full arrangement of it, or ‘open it up’ for therapeutic playing. And in this special session, I’ll give you a tour inside the Academy!
Structure is Freedom! (An Intro to Hip Harp Toolkit): Tue. Oct. 15, 4:00 pm EST
We kick off our week with an intro to Hip Harp Toolkit. This class teaches you to create spontaneous, improvised arrangements by applying two powerful dimensions of creative structure – the 5-Part Arrangement Form and the use of ROLES – to turn any simple melody into an expandable arrangement at any technical level. If you want to build repertoire FAST, this is the intro for you!
Intro to Jazz for Harps: Wed. Oct. 16, 10:30 am EST
Ready to learn the basics of how jazz works for harps? Join our 2nd event this week! “Jazz for Harps” covers the 4 Quadrants of Jazz Improv: Harmony, Rhythm, Roadmaps, and Melodic Improvisation. Jazz for Harps helps you improvise and enrich the harmony of any tune you play in every style of music – from jazz to folk to meditation music.
