IJT week 4 – what DHC said for my next step:
4 bar intro, twice through chorus, 3 turnarounds. Starting and ending Rubato with some fun in between. It’s 3minutes long. Please start around 50 seconds to get a bit of both. Reminder to turn off the recording as this is a vocal of the popular cover tune that the roadmap is based upon.
TELL ME WHAT YOU NEED COACHING ON. Provide specific questions here so I know what you want me to give you feedback on. Remember, I’m not grading or assessing your work – I’m coaching – and I can only do that if I know what you’re TRYING to do, so I can gear my coaching to help you achieve that.
I notice some inconsistencies in the rhythm. Sometimes I just forgot what comes next, but when I start to sing after the instrumental I really drop it but I’m not sure exactly why or what to do about it. And of course I love to hear what is working
Is there anything else you want me to know about your video?
I transposed it to 3 flats to fit my voice better. Could be a reason for some of the hesitations mentioned above.

video is on bass and comp for Leaves Melody #2 w/turnaround. It is a practice to get it into my fingers so I didnt use the recorded roadmap although I did play with it and will continue to in order to loosen up my tension – especially in comping.

I want to be able to play bass patterns that are interesting and worked on the bass pattern with 5ths. Then added RH comping. A bit messy still. I found it challenging to mute where needed on the left and on th right to achieve texture in the rhythm. By doing this over and over am I on the right track to achieve this. Playing with the recording dos help relax the attack.
Is there anything else you want me to know about your video?
In just watching the video I can learn techniques and learn to let go of unneeded notes while being in the groove of it. It takes a lot of playing to get it to sync in.
