What we did:

We looked at what’s coming up next in the academy in Quarter 3

“The Power of Pattern” Quarter Starts July 10

What if you had the freedom of SIX different layers of PATTERNS that each open a NEW REALM of freedom:

HARMONIC Patterns, MELODIC Patterns, ACCOMPANIMENT Patterns, CHORD SHAPES, LEFT-HAND Patterns & RHYTHMIC patterns – so that YOU can improvise at your experience level – with joy and freedom.

3 Summer Classes give YOU the Power of Pattern

⇒ Modulating Warmups – build your technical creative and mental skills and sound beautiful
⇒ Blues Harp-Style – Blues is a pattern powerhouse that lets you learn while you play
⇒ Nataliana – a beautiful piece built on patterns you can use over and over once you learn the piece

It’s a great time to join Hip Harp Academy.  Check it out at https://www.hipharp.com/academy/

17:00:09 From Tammy H to Everyone:
It’s fun to play with  bending the G to G#
17:00:10 From Elizabeth Teplin to Everyone:
It became a lot of fun, once I relaxed.
17:00:31 From Joke Verdoold to Everyone:
Discovered I now can combine LH and RH patterns and it starts to sound bluesy, specially when I take my time.
17:00:31 From Megan to Everyone:
Replying to “what notes are you p…”
I start hearing other nuances of the same pattern in my head and it is fun to play
17:00:53 From Kimberly to Everyone:
I was always able to come back to the basic pentatonic scale in the correct rhythm if I got off track with an improvised melody
17:00:55 From Theresa N. to Everyone:
It’s Relaxing
17:01:03 From Tiffany Baker to Everyone:
Loved the train!
17:01:12 From Tara to Everyone:
It took lots of repetition, but I eventually started to get my two hands coordinated.  Excellent for me to review this.
17:01:16 From DEBRA S to Everyone:
the slow blues. with the G# puts you in a zone. Its great to revisit these patterns
17:01:32 From Joan Davidson to Everyone:
The more one repeats the pattern, the easier it is to feel and play in the groove

I’ll definitely be doing the ‘train’ at my pre-school music classes! (The kids will love it!) 🎼🎶😍🤩
17:11:57 From Elizabeth Teplin to Everyone:
I ended up changing the order of some of the notes
17:12:06 From Tara to Everyone:
Loved it, but changing chords makes the hand coordination harder again.  A good challenge.
17:12:32 From Mona Seering to Everyone:
I mixes it with our original blues pattern back and forth, with bass octave stride downwards, slow so it was so grooveable!
17:13:59 From DEBRA S to Everyone:
Adding the blues pattern in the blues structure – DDDD GG DD AA GG DD is where I go that creates a nice groove
17:14:40 From Jeffrey Heath to Everyone:
Love the Groove of this and yes I could play this all day and love the train.
It is awesome.
17:15:18 From Nancy C to Everyone:

17:17:01 From Megan to Everyone:
Can I ask how you would transpose this? Do I start on the second note of major scale and follow the same pattern?

thank you!!! This has been the best class ever!!
17:21:11 From Megan to Everyone:
I’ve taken a lot of classes before, and they teach you the fundamentals but don’t really go into practicing them with you. The way you taught the basics and then taught a handful of simple riffs to use was very helpful to get started.
17:27:29 From Elizabeth Murphy to Everyone:
I will play the fundamentals!
17:27:47 From Deborah Henson-Conant to Everyone:
