17:07:19 From Cynthia to Everyone:
Very releasing
17:07:22 From Cherie Maffey to Everyone:
Could really hear the difference in the modes. Liked having the melody to use, so I didn’t have to think.
17:07:24 From janetmann to Everyone:
There is a structure by following the pattern
17:08:04 From Laurie to Everyone:
There’s predictability in the pattern….that helped me look ahead with anticipation
17:08:05 From Carol Henley to Everyone:
moving all over the harp is such a good exercise
17:08:07 From Alice M to Everyone:
The melody was great so there wasn’t too much to think about when changing modes until you got in to the flow of the new mode
17:08:29 From Tammy H to Everyone:
I liked how the melody in each of the modes started on the note of the mode and the pattern was the same in each mode. It was easy to remember.
17:09:23 From Jeff to Everyone:
What Mode chord 12345 do you start end on.
17:09:25 From Laurie to Everyone:
Definitely felt the different ‘feels’ and moods of the modes in this exercise
17:10:44 From Faith to Everyone:
This exercise reminded me of Gregorian chant and maybe modes arose from ancient instruments that didn’t have half-tones. the simplicity suggesting more primitive instruments without sharps and flats – and the vocals echoing the fifths of the instruments or a cappella.
17:22:51 From Cherrie Mooney to Everyone:
I noticed that I slowed down on the darker modes and sped up on the happier modes.
17:23:29 From Kimberly to Everyone:
Doing it the second time I was able to start right off in the grove with a good rhythm
17:23:32 From Laurie to Everyone:
A little more freedom to improvise this second time around – my fingers were learning where to go
17:23:58 From Carol Henley to Everyone:
moving the melody up a third In Ionian sounded really neat
17:24:29 From Mona Seering to Everyone:
Felt like a relaxed workout for I don’t like the way this always sounds, but the drone makes it somehow ok, last time was much more relaxed, yet quite a physical and mental workout! Fun.
17:24:40 From Cherie Maffey to Everyone:
Could use this in an improv piece in a tune.
17:24:43 From Wendy Savage to Everyone:
Became more comfortable with the structure and the notes. I also was able to hear the different modes more easily as well. I did hear how my action changed because of the tonality of the mode we were playing.
17:24:59 From Jeff to Everyone:
I finally figured out some of it.
I am slow on Modes but I figured out and played The C and F Mode
17:25:05 From Stacy Salles to Everyone:
This has made me more ear aware of how one song will have more than one mode just because of the way we chord things. This then opens up the way we might take a melody that might be written in one mode, but changes mode just by the way we change chording.
17:25:17 From Joan Davidson to Everyone:
I started varying the LH sound with playing the root note, then going up to the fifth, then down to the fifth. Fun

What are the principles and concepts in this session? If you had to remember what you learned, or someone said, "Quick! I have to do an improv! What did you learn in this 'Harp Time Live!' session that I can use??" - What would you tell them?
