16:34:25 From Hýldi’s iPad Pro To DHC(privately) : Hi DHC, There’s a question that keeps popping into my mind that perhaps you could answer, please? What’s the difference between say a C9 chord vs. a C7 add 9 chord? Thanks!
16:45:54 From debra Sawyer : 1 6 2 5 -3625-1473M- 65
16:52:50 From Joke Verdoold : This was so nice and easy to noodle over it
16:53:14 From Lynne Lapidus : if doing 7ths, have to get that G# back down before the set of 6 chords….
16:54:32 From Laurie Thiede : I’ve been scared of raising the G# for the E chord. Haha. But after finally working on a quick lever raise after many weeks I’ve got it!
16:54:43 From Ruth Thomson : Want to know better the g#
16:54:44 From Cherrie Mooney : Once the progression is memorized, I could concentrate on experimenting with the right hand.
16:55:09 From Lynne Lapidus : 5 of 6 didn’t register for me at all, just ignored it
16:55:15 From Laurie Grant : Yes, I just ignored “5 of 6” because I wasn
16:55:21 From Laurie Grant : T sure what you mneant
16:55:23 From Kimberly’s iPad : 5 of 6 would have freaked me out but I just took a theory class so I knew what it meant
16:55:54 From Pam Jurgens : Do you play VII with b in bass ?
16:56:18 From Tara : I’m afraid I popped in a little late, so I’m curious what song this is…itof it is one. I found LH could move only one or two fingers per chord change most of the time. For example, C-E-G to C-E-A to D-F-A to D-G-B.
16:56:23 From debra Sawyer : last 6 w 9
16:56:41 From Carol Booth : Kimberly could you give us the link to your free on line theory class
16:57:45 From Elly : Oh, now I get the dominant.
16:58:16 From Kimberly’s iPad : It is the Intro to Music Theory through Coursera. If you go to Coursera.com you can start an account for free and then look for this class. It was really helpful.
16:59:39 From Carol Booth : Thank you
17:01:36 From Anne Horton : Did you just say you can “substitute a 4th which is an A”?
17:01:49 From Pam Jurgens : What are some fun graceful ,creative ways to to go from VII. To Major III
17:02:24 From Felicity Collins : Is there a reason why there are only 7 chords in part 2 of the progression when there’s 8 in the first part?
17:03:10 From Tara : Anne, instead of playing E-G#-B you can play E-A-B.
17:04:07 From Anne Horton : That is what I was thinking … (that A would be a 4th of the chord of E) so thats for clarifying that we can say that too 😉
17:04:18 From Anne Horton : *thanks
17:05:11 From DHC To Hýldi’s iPad Pro(privately) : I vi ii V — iii vi ii V – I IV vii° III7 – vi vi V (Vsus)
17:05:21 From DHC : I vi ii V — iii vi ii V – I IV vii° III7 – vi vi V (Vsus)
17:06:16 From DHC : III7 = V7/vi
17:07:25 From Laurie Grant : ==> Play melody along w/DHC
17:08:50 From Ruth Thomson : Love this
17:09:00 From Jenny West : yes1
17:10:06 From Ruth Thomson : Wish we were all in a live room with half playing numbers and half playing variety of melody
17:10:06 From Anne Horton : ==> “HARP TIME LIVE IS ALL ABOUT PLAYING ALONG! 🙂
17:22:37 From Kimberly’s iPad : Just keep going…..
17:23:07 From Lynne Lapidus : Elly accidentally sent this to me:
17:23:07 From Jan Harrison : Just getting my fingers onto the chords is my biggest take away
17:23:08 From Lynne Lapidus : I ❤️ this. But, almost got the 5-6, can you mention that again. Or would this be posted, so that I can go over this again? It is super fun.
17:23:29 From Lori’s iPad : I never know what I’m doing but what ever note I play it matches with what you are playing!
17:23:36 From Tovelah Hirsch : SO meaningful to just PLAY
17:23:57 From Jenny West : My ear got better – particularly for the top hand!
17:23:57 From Laurie Grant : Eased up for me when I played same RH for 2 LH notes; then played only 2 notes (RH) for B dim and E7 – it simplified for me and allowed me to keep up and not get frustrated. 🙂
17:24:05 From Lynne Lapidus : What rhythm were you playing before the bossa?
17:24:08 From Ruth Thomson : Want rhythm soooooo…. Listening to you and figuring this out
17:24:35 From Lynne Lapidus : I learned to move the G lever sooner
17:25:13 From debra Sawyer : The last phrase I keep playing around with to sound right – I IV viio III7 vi vi Vsus – tricky
17:25:25 From Cherrie Mooney : I liked playing with the group, even though we’re not together.
17:25:59 From Laurie Grant : When I got frustrated, I just watched you, enjoyed listening, and breathed deeply; then got back into it at my level
17:26:50 From Tara : I tried just noodling a RH but the balance and timing was difficult and I didn’t feel satisfied. I was happier just trying to play the chord progression and explore different ways to play that.
17:27:09 From Joke Verdoold : I had problems with the rythme in the last line, but just doing some noodling solved that.
17:27:50 From Cherrie Mooney : I played at my own speed, but was ok with that.
17:30:20 From Elly : Would you mind very briefly to tell again what the 5-6 is, I almost got it. It’s easy, but got distracted before it got in my memory bank 😊
17:30:22 From debra Sawyer : Ah !! — and after the E7 and Am back to the 5 of C – yes?
17:31:52 From Melinda Ostrander-Aviles : D
17:31:58 From Tara : V of 5 is D
17:32:08 From Melinda Ostrander-Aviles : A
17:32:20 From Tara : V of 2 is A
17:32:29 From Tara : Bach did a lot of this.
17:33:07 From Pam Jurgens : At the end Last line. am Am. V7 E7 or. G7
Is it V of C
Or V of Am
17:33:52 From Tara : The E7 is the V of A (minor or major, although here it’s A minor).
17:34:02 From Pam Jurgens : Must be G 7 to get back to C. Yes???
17:34:37 From Melinda Ostrander-Aviles : That Bach Flute Sonata is starting to make more sense now, lol.
17:34:45 From Pam Jurgens : Thank you!, This is great!!!!!
17:34:52 From Laurie Grant : Great brain exercise! Wards off dementia!
17:35:11 From Melinda Ostrander-Aviles : Yes
17:35:54 From debra Sawyer : Playing the numbers game and understanding it – ?!
17:35:59 From Kimberly’s iPad : Able to learn so much and have fun doing it!!
17:36:14 From Jenny West : i prefer the numbers!
17:36:23 From Joke Verdoold : Takeaway: play harp and void dementia. Think, think, tink
17:36:29 From Pam Jurgens : Opens multi levels of possibilities!!!
17:36:33 From Joke Verdoold : avoid
17:36:53 From Pam Jurgens : Yes! Prefer numbers as well!
17:37:09 From Anne Horton : The more often we do this the easier (and more enjoyable) it gets 🙂
17:37:13 From Elly : Numbers, dominant noodling, I never liked Jazz, but learned noodling … jazz it is fun
17:37:25 From Tovelah Hirsch : Love the numbers and Love the fun with everyone
17:37:55 From Hýldi’s iPad Pro : I am understanding how I can immediately change the mood using the relative minor
17:38:08 From Gail : Mary and I loved playing the numbers. It was a lot of fun to improvise with the RH and with the great chord progression. Love that progression!
17:38:56 From Pam Jurgens : Thank you!!!
17:39:09 From debra Sawyer : great session!
17:39:13 From Nancy Cochran : Thank you Deborah and Everyone
