We looked at: Video Harp Holiday Cards.
DHC gave a demonstration of how to create a personalized Holiday card with your harp:

  • Using Angel Mode (harp tuned to Eb and raise your G’s & D’s to G# & D#), you can create a Video Greeting card and not worry about what notes you play. Gliss, use chord shapes going up the harp. DHC demonstrated different ideas you can use to create a special Holiday Greeting Card with your harp.
  • Here’s a link to the PDF on A script you could use for your Holiday Greeting Cards

How do I set up my harp in Eb
16:33:51 From Tammy Halun to Everyone:
Angel Mode Harps tuned to Eb, then raise your G’s and D’s to G# & D #
16:33:56 From Sally to Everyone:
Pedal harp. Angel mode gliss – D sharp, C natural, B Flat, – E flat, F natural, G sharp, A flat
16:35:10 From Sarah to Everyone:
Tana I think if your harp is in C you could turn your E levers up (it becomes an F) and your B lever Up (it becomes a C). Would that work DHC?
16:36:29 From Tammy Halun to Everyone:
You can find more info on the Video Harp Holiday Cards Class on this page https://www.hipharp.com/video-greeting-cards

Sarah, it sound beautiful like asian music
16:38:02 From Bonnie Berk to Everyone:
Do members of the academy have to [lay for the class?
16:38:15 From Bonnie Berk to Everyone:

Replying to “Sarah, it sound beau…”

Yep! Angel Mode!
16:39:15 From Sarah to Everyone:
Replying to “Sarah, it sound beau…”

Everything is always perfect
16:44:01 From Sarah to Everyone:
This feels so raw and emotional to me!
16:44:10 From Kimberly to Everyone:
I like starting with the glissandos so you don’t have to worry about looking away from the camera
16:44:14 From Tana Lee to Everyone:
I see that I’m having trouble saying anything without stumbling
16:44:30 From Ina P to Everyone:
You make me smile even though I did not feel like it!
16:45:04 From Cherrie Mooney to Everyone:
The idea is great1 The talking is still awkward. I’ll need to practice more.
16:45:47 From Cherie Maffey to Everyone:
You don’t need to look at the harp while playing.
16:46:59 From Alice M to Everyone:
So personal and unique, you can’t buy and wrap playfulness!
16:47:08 From Tana Lee to Everyone:
I’ll send one to my bestie in Missouri she is totally NOT judgmental at all. 🙂
16:47:28 From Faith to Everyone:
You could sing the message while glissing. Also, without looking at the harp you could pluck random strings, creating a little tune (doesn’t matter which strings, they will all sound pretty), then gliss and speak at the end.
16:52:59 From Faith to Everyone:
At the end you could place Gs and Ds
16:56:59 From Bonnie Berk to Everyone:
It sounds good to gliss in the key of C and play the notes of the Dreidel song.
17:01:06 From Rebekah to Everyone:
I wonder if I need to put a smiley face sticker by the camera, so I’m looking at the right place? or does it work to just look at the screen
17:05:46 From Tana Lee to Everyone:
I am now tuned to Eb
17:06:06 From Marianne to Everyone:
think simple, dont try to play an exact melody – unless it goes totally at ease – because it will get me away from playfulness. I prefer rolling cords and the pattern of 6th in the left hand. sounds espacially surprising in the pentatonic scale!
17:07:22 From Cathy Hornby to Everyone:
Ah. – I thought we’d shifted to c tuning so played very legato, a very loose version of Silent Night – easy if you don’t try too hard!
17:08:59 From mona seering to Everyone:
I can pretend to be doing flawless inversions at last!!!
17:09:10 From Marianne to Everyone:
Reacted to “I can pretend to be …” with 😂
17:10:38 From Cherie Maffey to Everyone:
The notes sound really different in this mode, almost Asian sound. Descending bass starting on Am sounds lovely, too.
17:12:24 From Cherrie Mooney to Everyone:
I’m doing the fanfare in A
17:26:00 From Kimberly to Everyone:
It is all about having fun and creating celebration for the recipient
17:26:16 From Cherie Maffey to Everyone:
Doing over & over again, becomes easier to get the glisses to sound nicer.
17:26:54 From heatherflinn to Everyone:
It is like your “broadway dominant intro plus gliss to tonic” thing
17:27:58 From Joyce Douglas to Everyone:
for bold fun card use back of nails gliss at beginning of each phrase for joy to the world
17:28:53 From mona seering to Everyone:
Set your harp up in front of your tree and all your Christmas decorations!
17:30:30 From Cathy Hornby to Everyone:
Having this tuning is fun and I like making patterns between the two hands in a fluttering sort of way (don’t know the name for this) and then adding the gliss and the bottom notes

17:31:50 From mona seering to Everyone:
Can’t we record directly in messenger and send? So much easier and it’s to the correct name!
17:32:30 From Kimberly to Everyone:
Take away— this is a wonderful way to connect with a gift from the heart for those you care for at important times (can do this year round for different occasions)
17:32:32 From Cherrie Mooney to Everyone:
This process is both fun for us as well as the recipient.
17:33:15 From Laurie to Everyone:
Take away: Playful, playful, playful!! You modeled that so beautifully! It was contageous!
17:33:27 From mona seering to Everyone:
